Screen printing paste

Screen printing paste is the base used to prepare screen-printed decoration on floor and wall tiles. It ensures sharp prints, smooth flow through the screen and proper drying on the line.

Why consistency matters

In screen-printed decoration, the ink passes through a screen carrying the design and is deposited on the glazed tile. To do that, it needs exactly the right consistency, not so fluid that it smudges and not so thick that it clogs the screen.

The pigments or glazes of the design are added to the paste, which keeps behaving the same way throughout the production shift.

Where it is used

  • Screen-printed decoration of floor and wall tiles
  • Designs with colors and glaze effects
  • Localized gloss, matt and relief effects

Matching the line

The rheology of the paste is adjusted to each customer’s machine, screen and line speed. Print trials check that the design stays sharp and consistent from batch to batch.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between screen printing paste and screen printing medium?

The medium is the liquid that keeps the pigments and solids in suspension. The paste already has a ready-to-print consistency and serves as the base for the decoration.

Can the paste be used for rotary screen printing?

Yes, with the rheology adjusted to the type of machine. The formulation is defined through trials with the customer.
